這款酒所使用的米是明治時代培育的品種,因栽培難度大,曾在昭和30年代一度廢止,後在縣農業試驗場被重新發現。這是從極少數種子中復活的夢幻酒米。在山田錦的母系品系中,滋賀正推動打造品牌大米的行動。使用這款渡船米,精米步合77%的純米酒,即為這款「七本槍純米大吟釀渡船」。雖名為大吟釀,但以「以美食享受大吟釀」為理念,香氣溫和、口感宜人。在七本槍系列中屬口味清淡細膩,推薦與清淡的蔬菜或白身魚搭配享用。
