1972年、菊水・高正宗・隠岐鶴・御所泉の5つの蔵元（西郷酒造組合全組合蔵）が統合して設立され、代表銘柄が選定されました。島根半島から日本海に約40〜60km浮かぶ180余りの島々からなる隠岐は、後鳥羽・後醍醐両天皇の配流地としても知られる歴史の島です。対馬暖流の雨霧により豊かな森に恵まれ、環境庁選定「名水百選」に2件が選ばれた清冽な仕込み水を活かし、清酒・焼酎・リキュールを醸造しています。
