Nagurayama Shuzo, founded in 1918 in Aizu-Wakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture, named its flagship brand after the beauty of Mount Nagurayama overlooking nearby Lake Inawashiro. Pursuing what the brewery calls beautiful sweetness, the range spans ginjo, junmai, and nigori styles, with the daiginjo polished to 35 to 45 percent and the ginjo and junmai lines to 50 to 55 percent. The label has earned 13 consecutive gold medals at the National New Sake Appraisal and 17 consecutive gold medals at the Tohoku Regional Appraisal, alongside a top-ranking first place at the Nanbu Toji Jijo Seishu Appraisal.
