Founded in 1872 in Tochigi Prefecture, Sohomare Sake Brewery has been stewarded by the Kono family for five generations, specializing in the labor-intensive kimoto brewing method and Yamada Nishiki rice sourced from the Special A district of Hyogo. The brewery draws water from its own well fed by the Kinugawa River flowing down from Nikko Nantai Mountain, and has earned gold at Japan's National Sake Appraisal every year since 2011.
