Gembun is produced by Hara Shuzo, a brewery founded in 1814 in Kashiwazaki City, Niigata Prefecture, in a town that prospered as a post station on the historic Hokkoku Highway. Hara Shuzo polishes its rice in-house and brews with water from the Chuetsu coastal terroir, earning Gold Prizes at national and international sake appraisals including the IWC.
