Amanohara

Amanohara is the flagship sake of Sudo Honke, a Chiba Prefecture brewery established in 1885 in what is now Kimitsu City. The brand name was coined when the brewery relocated after the Great Kanto Earthquake, taking the local place name Tennouhara and rendering it as 'Amanohara,' meaning 'plain of heaven.' Production uses naturally flowing artesian water drawn from 500 meters underground at the brewery site, a source listed among Japan's Heisei-era top 100 named waters, and the sake is brewed using traditional cold-season fermentation.
