Senkoma Shuzo, established around 1924 in Shirakawa City, Fukushima, takes its name from the spirited image of young horses whose hoofbeats once echoed through this historic castle town's famous horse market. The brewery draws its brewing water from the underground springs of the Nasu mountain range, water prized for its rich potassium and calcium content and complete absence of iron and manganese. Produced in small quantities entirely by hand, the flagship Junmai Daiginjo Senkoma won the highest gold award at the Wine Glass Sake Awards, recognized for its fruity aroma and gentle rice-derived sweetness.
