Kouzuru is the representative brand of Noguchi Shuzouten, a Tokyo brewery with roots tracing back to 1860 in Fuchu, where the Noguchi family served as shrine officials at the historic Okunitama Shrine and brewed sacred sake for its rituals. After decades of off-site contract brewing caused by urbanization, the brewery revived on-premise production in 2024, using water from a newly excavated proprietary well and pursuing what it calls a Musashi terroir concept — sourcing rice exclusively from the historic Musashi region.
