Hagino Shuzou is located in Kurihara City, Miyagi Prefecture, where it draws soft water from the Reido Stream flowing from a mountain owned by the brewery. The Hiwata brand was developed under the current owner with a focus on bold rice umami, setting it apart from the brewery's longer-established Haginotsuru line. Rice sourced from local contract farmers, including Miyama Nishiki and Kuranohana varieties, grounds the brand firmly in its Tohoku terroir.
