Histoire
1790
The first-generation owner, Zenichi Yamamoto, began sake brewing under the name Katsuya, paying rice as annual tribute.
1873
Around 1873, during the tenure of the 4th-generation owner Yagoro Yamamoto, rioters from the Chikuzen Bamboo Spear Uprising stormed the brewery, forcing a temporary halt to production.
1926
The brewery was incorporated in 1926 as Katsuya Shuzo LLC.
2015
The main building and its brick chimney were registered as a National Tangible Cultural Property in 2015.
