1673
Gorousuke Meguro, the sixth head of the Meguro family, received official permission to brew sake from the Takada domain lord Matsudaira Mitsunaga in Itoigawa, marking the brewery's founding.

1912
In the first year of the Taisho era, a storehouse was relocated from the Meguro family residence to the brewery's current site, where 'Tamagawaya', the predecessor of Tamagawa Shuzo, was established.
