Onuma Shuzoten, founded in 1712 in Murata Town, Miyagi Prefecture, has spent over three centuries refining the Kenkonichi brand around Sasanishiki rice, a variety celebrated for its gentle flavor and clean finish. Brewed primarily as food-friendly sake that performs equally well chilled, at room temperature, or warmed, Kenkonichi is widely featured in Miyagi restaurants as the representative local sake of the region.
