Heiwa Shuzo, founded in 1928 on the site of a Buddhist temple that stood for over 500 years in Kainan City, Wakayama, renamed itself after the war with the phrase 'brewing sake in a peaceful era.' The KID brand name abbreviates 'Kisshu' (the classical name for Wakayama) and 'fudo' (natural environment), positioning each bottle as an expression of the region's forested mountain terrain and Koyasan soft spring water. Heiwa is the only sake brewery in history to win Brewer of the Year at the International Wine Challenge in consecutive years (2019 and 2020). The Karakuchi Kid Junmai Ginjo leans toward the dry end of the spectrum while retaining the polished, floral elegance that defines the KID house style, a reflection of Wakayama's soft water character and Heiwa's reputation for precision.
