Oigame, meaning old turtle and carrying a traditional wish for long life, has been produced by Ono Shuzo in the northern part of Hiroshima Prefecture since around 1697. The brewery built its reputation on aged sake, winning a Gold Trophy in the aged sake category at the International Wine Challenge 2007 for a ten-year-aged genmai koshu, and has practiced long-term maturation as a signature method for roughly three decades. Everyday offerings like the Kiko Ryusui honjozo balance calm, clean aromas with subtle sweetness, reflecting the brewery's broader approach of expressing rice flavor through patient, nature-forward brewing.
