Kametaya Shuzoten has been brewing sake in Matsumoto, Shinshu since 1869 under the concept of capturing the blessings of the Alps with all five senses. The Alps Masamune brand uses only rice grown in Nagano Prefecture and spring water from the Japanese Alps mountain system, with brewing conducted during the harsh Matsumoto Basin winters to take full advantage of the region's dramatic seasonal temperatures.
