La brasserie a été fondée avec le transfert d'Akita, sous les auspices du seigneur féodal Daimyo du pays de Hitachi. Depuis lors, elle poursuit son activité de brassage dans la région d'Okukuji, au coeur du Kanto, depuis maintenant quatre siècles.

Founded in Keicho 8 (1603) by a retainer of the Satake clan who governed Kuji-gun in Hitachi Province, applying miso and soy sauce production techniques to begin sake brewing.
2011
After the March 11, 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake damaged the brewery, a roof tile being repaired was found stamped with the brewery's old trade name mark "Kamimaru," inspiring the launch of the new Kamimaru brand as a symbol of the brewery's fresh start.
