- 1837In the Tenpo era (Tenpo 8), amid a time of soaring rice prices and widespread hardship, the roots of the brewery began: founder Hayashi Tarobei, born to the Mita family, built trust through honest trading of goods including textiles, sake, and other businesses.
- 1877In Meiji 10, the brewery's sake brand name was changed from 'Ishō' to 'Kusugiku', named by the second-generation head Hayashi Kuro after his favorite flower, the chrysanthemum (kiku).
- 1897In Meiji 30, the Yukuhashi Brewing and Sales Company was established, with the brewery's head serving as president for two years to expand the business.
