Sanran is produced by Tonoikeshuzoten, a brewery founded in 1937 in Mashiko, Tochigi Prefecture, using water drawn from the Nikko mountain range and brewing expertise from the Nanbu school of toji. The name Sanran means shining brightly, reflecting the brewery's wish that those who enjoy their sake will live vibrantly. The Sanran Daiginjo has won the Gold Award at the National New Sake Tasting Competition eight consecutive times, and the brand has also received a gold prize at the Kura Master competition and a trophy at the International Wine Challenge in 2012.
