Nakazen Shuzoten was established in 1865 in Kiso-Fukushima, a post town on the historic Nakasendo road running through the forested mountains of Nagano Prefecture. The brand name Nakanorisan honors the log drivers who once rode timber down the swift Kiso River from the mountains toward Nagoya, one of the region's most dangerous and vital trades. Operating as a small-scale brewery focused on handcrafted production, Nakazen keeps annual output modest to ensure the warmth of the brewers comes through in every bottle.
