酒莊位於山梨縣北杜市,四周被八嶽豐饒的自然環境所環抱。「竹井」之名源自初代竹左衛門之名與八嶽地下水所湧出的水井。釀造原料米精選自全國各地的優質酒造好適米,發酵用酵母主要採用東京農業大學的菌株,釀造用水則使用八嶽山麓的地下水。
