Shikinomatsushima is produced by Abekan Shuzo, a brewery founded in 1716 in Miyagi Prefecture that began by brewing sake for the rituals of Shiogama Shrine and celebrated its 300th anniversary in 2016. Drawing inspiration from the seafood-rich waters of nearby Matsushima Bay, the brewery crafts sake meant to complement food, expressing the subtle umami of Miyagi-grown rice in each bottle.
