Akigeshiki is a honjozo brewed entirely from the Akigeshiki rice variety, a Miyazaki-born cultivar developed for sake brewing in the Aso region of Kumamoto. The sake won gold at the Zenkoku Kanshu Contest in the お値打ち熱燗 category, with the concentrated sweetness and clean finish characteristic of this indigenous rice.
