Shunnoten

Shunnoten, whose name means the warbler's spring song, is produced by Yorozuya Jozoten in Fujikawa-cho, Yamanashi Prefecture, a brewery founded in 1790 by Yorozuya Hachigorō. The brand name was adopted in 1933 when poet Akiko Yosano visited the brewery and composed a verse about spring warblers heard within its walls, inspiring the sixth-generation head to rename the sake in her honor. Approximately 85 percent of the sake rice used is grown in and around Fujikawa-cho, and a 2020 gold at the National Kanzake Contest highlights the brewery's strength in sake designed for heated serving.
