Sekiyounihonkai

Nihonkai Shuzo began brewing in 1888 where the clear waters of the Mishima River meet the Sea of Japan in Hamada, Shimane Prefecture, a location that gives the brewery both its identity and its flagship brand name Sekiyo Nihonkai. The brewery's cold-season brewing runs day and night from November through March, using natural low temperatures to control fermentation in the traditional style of the San'in coast. Nihonkai Shuzo has earned 20 cumulative gold medals at the National New Sake Competition, with the Sekiyo Nihonkai range covering everything from daiginjo to junmai, all sharing a clean finish that the brewery attributes to the briny coastal terroir.
