Okagesama is brewed by Iseman Co., Ltd. in Ise City, Mie Prefecture, at the gateway to the Ise Jingu shrine complex in the historic Okage Yokocho merchant district of Oharai-machi. The brand name Okagesama is drawn from the spirit of the Edo-period Okage-mairi mass pilgrimages to the shrine, expressing gratitude for the blessings of nature and the gods of Ise, with brewing water sourced from the Isuzu River that flows through the shrine grounds. Okagesama Junmai Daiginjo won the Gold Medal and Regional Trophy at the International Wine Challenge 2022 and a Gold Medal at the Brussels International SAKE Selection 2018.
