Takamasamune was founded in Kurume, Fukuoka in the Tenpo era (1830-1844), building nearly two centuries of history in Chikugo's sake country before filing for bankruptcy in June 2023. The Chikugonokambai label, named after the cold-season plum blossoms of the Chikugo region, was a pure junmai sake known for moderate acidity and a lingering aftertaste. International recognition came through gold awards at CINVE 2021 in Spain and IWSC 2021 in London for other products in the Takamasamune lineup.
