Meilensteine

1. 1912Otokoyama Honten was founded in the major port town of Kesennuma, Miyagi Prefecture.
2. 1930The Sakanamachi shop, a three-story wooden Art Deco building with a pebbled-finish exterior, was constructed. Later designated a national Tangible Cultural Property.
3. 1932The guest house adjacent to the brewery, a single-story wooden tiled-roof building, was constructed. It served as a reception house for government officials before the war and as a residence afterward. Later designated a national Tangible Cultural Property.
4. 2011The Sakanamachi shop was struck by the tsunami of the Great East Japan Earthquake and collapsed, leaving only the third floor standing. The tsunami stopped just short of the brewery, which survived unscathed.
5. 2020Nine years and four months after the earthquake, the Sakanamachi shop reopened on the same site after reconstruction.
