沿革

  1. 1925Founder Jirokuro Matsumoto became independent from the family sake business and started the "Matsumoto Jirokuro Shoten" in Shinmachi, Fushimi ward, Kyoto, laying the foundation for the "Kizakura" brand.
  2. 1951Reorganized into a stock company as (Matsumoto Jirokuro Shoten Co., Ltd.).
  3. 1955Adopted the kappa (river imp) as the company's mascot character.
  4. 1957Began television commercials, pioneering the practice in the sake industry.
  5. 1964Changed the company name to Kizakura Shuzo Co., Ltd.
  6. 1974Completed the Tanba factory; brewing capacity increased dramatically through four-season brewing.
  7. 1995Entered the craft beer business and opened the directly-operated restaurant "Kappa Country".
  8. 2016Grand opening of the "Fushimigura" brewery tour and visitor facility.
