Kumamoto Prefectural Sake Brewing Research Institute founded to improve the quality of local sake.
1918
Registered as a joint-stock company.
1919
Nojiro Kinichi joined as chief engineer.
1922
Sake brewing operations began in earnest.
1930
Received a top award at the National New Sake Awards.
1952
Successfully isolated and cultured Kumamoto yeast.
1968
Began nationwide distribution as Association No. 9 yeast.
