Story & Media

History

1814
In the Bunka-Bunsei era, founder Hara Kotaro (Nabeya Kotaro) handed his family headship to his sister and opened "Hara Sake Brewery Store," the origin of Hara Shuzo.
1911
The Great Kashiwazaki Fire (Toyuya Fire) destroyed all of the brewery's buildings, including the warehouse and family home.
1937
Under the fourth-generation head Yoshiro Hara, the West Kura warehouse was completed (following the East Kura in 1926), marking the brewery's recovery from the fire.
1928
Hara Shuzo took over the "Koshinohomare" brand name from a fellow brewery that was closing, and completed the "Seicho-gura" warehouse capable of year-round brewing.
1972
"Koshinohomare Morohaku" was chosen as the toasting sake for Prime Minister Kakuei Tanaka and Premier Zhou Enlai at the banquet commemorating the normalization of Japan-China diplomatic relations.
1997
Koshinohomare was adopted for All Nippon Airways' international first class service.
1999
"Ginnotsubasa," a brand limited to the local Kashiwazaki-Kariwa area, was launched.
2007
The Chuetsu offshore earthquake destroyed 70% of the company's buildings, but the brewery staff rebuilt, completing the new "Wajo-gura" brewhouse and the "Shusaikan" direct-sales shop.
