The brand name derives from Hirado's ancient name Hiran-jima, meaning 'island where the sacred bird Ran takes flight,' a reference recorded in old accounts of Western navigators who called the port Firando. The brewery pursues a modern, food-pairing style through kimoto fermentation and low-alcohol balance, with aromas described as delicate pear and muscat alongside a harmony of sweetness, acidity, and clean bitterness.
