Kitagawahonke has been brewing sake in Fushimi, Kyoto since 1657, making it one of the district's oldest operating breweries, with 21 gold awards at the National New Sake Awards between 1983 and 2023 attesting to its sustained excellence. Fushimi's famously soft, mineral-rich groundwater underpins the brewery's refined style, and Kitagawahonke has cultivated that resource across more than 360 years of production. Furisode is one of the house's traditional brands, rooted in the same classical Kyoto brewing philosophy that defines the broader Tominokuni lineup.
