Shinshu Meijo, located in Ueda, Nagano, brews with Japan Alps underground water and achieves a clean, refined style that has earned consistent national recognition. The Shimbunnosake, Newspaper Sake, takes its name from an unconventional distribution history: this premium daiginjo was historically sold exclusively through newspaper subscription, reaching readers who had no other way to acquire it. Made with Yamada Nishiki polished to 39%, an SMV of positive two, and 15% ABV, it is elegantly balanced: a gentle, transparent fruit aroma, a light and noble palate, and a clean, graceful finish that rewards both its storied exclusivity and the quality of its rice.
