Ozekis amerikanisches Kapitel begann 1979 in Hollister, Kalifornien, was diese Brauerei zur ersten japanischen Sake-Brauerei macht, die sake lokal in den Vereinigten Staaten produzierte, gewählt für den hochwertigen lokal angebauten Reis und den Zugang zum klaren Wasser der Sierra Nevada. Die Wurzeln des Mutterunternehmens reichen bis ins Jahr 1711 zurück, als Chobee Osakaya Manryo im Nada-Bezirk der Präfektur Hyogo gründete, und der Markenname Ozeki wurde 1884 als Hommage an den zweithöchsten Rang im Sumo übernommen.
