- 1789Founded in Kami, Miyagi Prefecture, by first-generation Tanaka Rinbei, a leading kimono merchant of the Date domain.
- 2009Revived kimoto-method junmai sake brewing after a 67-year hiatus.
- 2010"Manatsuru Kimoto Tokubetsu Junmai" won the Nakagawa Toji Award for Excellent Craftsmanship.
- 2013"Manatsuru Honjozo" won gold in the Superb Kanzake category at the 5th Slow Food Japan Kanzake Contest 2013.
- 2016"Manatsuru Honjozo" won the top gold award in the Value Atsukan category at the National Kanzake Contest 2016.
