History

1789
In 1789 (Kansei 1), founder Naoshichi Yoshioka obtained a sake brewing license in Yasaka, facing Mt. Kongodoji, and began brewing with the mountain's spring water. The brand name Yoshinoyama comes from a mountain that once stood southeast of the Kumano range.
2002
In 2002 (Heisei 14), after the longtime toji retired due to illness, 8th-generation Naoaki Yoshioka joined the kura and took over as toji.
