Uroko
Uroko(鱗) is a sake brand crafted by Shimazaki Shuzo Co.,Ltd in Tochigi, Japan. Explore their full lineup of 8 sakes on OneSip.
Shimazaki Shuzo, founded in 1849 in Nasu-Karasuyama, Tochigi Prefecture, ages its Uroko sake inside a decommissioned wartime tunnel that extends over 600 meters into the hillside — a cave originally excavated as a tank factory during World War II. The brewery stores approximately 100,000 bottles in the constant low temperature of this cave, allowing long-term maturation that produces Uroko's signature amber hue, aromas of black sugar and caramel, and a bittersweet umami-rich finish. Brewing water is sourced from underground springs fed by the Naka River, which originates from Mount Nasu.

You can definitely tell that this nihonshu is aged as the flavors are more on the cheese-y/creamy side. On the nose I also get a slight floral note. Very interesting indeed, if you like something out of the ordinary
