Mourishuzo was founded in 1938 in the Togo district of Fukui Prefecture, a region historically known for rice cultivation, and the Sari brand was developed by the third-generation owner Tetsuro Mouri with the intention of crafting sake that pairs naturally with seafood. The name Sari is drawn from Sanskrit, meaning rice and sharing its root with the word shari used for sushi rice, reflecting the brand's close affinity with Japanese culinary tradition. Sari has attracted international recognition, including the attention of Michelin three-star chef Alain Ducasse, and is now exported to Southeast Asia and beyond.
