Sake Brand
Omiryumon
The Omi Sake Brewery, located on the eastern shore of Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture, draws on the region's centuries-long identity as a crossroads of land and water transport to produce sake that has long been associated with the Omi merchant tradition. Shiga's abundant clean water from the surrounding mountains and rice-friendly climate create conditions the brewery has leveraged to develop a specialty in aged sake. In 2022, the National Tax Agency designated Shiga sake with a Geographic Indication, strengthening the regional brand that Omiryumon represents.
