Kuromatsusenjo is the main brand of Senjyo Co., Ltd., founded in 1866 in Ina City in the Ina Valley of Nagano Prefecture. The name combines the founder's family name Kurokauchi and his given character 'Matsu,' while 'Senjyo' references the nearby Senjogatake peak of the Southern Alps, tying the brand's identity to the landscapes of Shinshu. The brewery uses snowmelt water from the Southern Alps year-round and in recent years has significantly elevated its sake quality, with chilled expressions now recommended to be enjoyed in wine glasses.
