Koganesawa

Koganesawa is produced by Kawakeishouten in Miyagi Prefecture, a brewery established in 1902 in Wakuya Town, a place celebrated since the Man'yoshu era as Japan's oldest recorded site of gold discovery, a fact that inspired the brand's name. Head brewer and sole successor Yoshikazu Kawana took over the brewery in 2012 and built a reputation on traditional yamahai fermentation, winning gold at the National New Sake Competition for twelve consecutive years. Despite the yamahai style's reputation for heaviness, the brewery achieves a notably clean and light expression through careful fermentation management.
