Named for Mt. Suganadake, the beloved peak rising above Gosen City, this honjozo from Kondo Shuzo embodies the classic Niigata tradition of using pure mountain resources to make clean, direct sake. The brewery draws subterranean aquifer water fed by snowmelt from Mt. Suganadake itself, water that has filtered slowly through deep layers of Niigata earth before arriving at the source. A small addition of brewer's distilled alcohol sharpens the aroma and lightens the body in the honjozo style, producing a dry, crisp sake with a whisper-clean finish that echoes the mineral clarity of the mountain that inspired its name.
