Baba Honten Shuzo in Katori City, Chiba Prefecture, traces its lineage to the Tenwa era of the 1680s, when the first-generation Baba family established a malt shop in the historic merchant town of Sawara. Sake brewing began with the fifth generation in 1842, and the brewery has maintained traditional production of sake and mirin as a family business for more than 300 years. Suginosakari is among the brands produced at this Chiba institution, rooted in the waterways and rice culture of the Suigo wetlands region.
