Satsukigokoro

Satsukigokoro is the flagship brand of Manzai Shuzo, founded in 1921 in Okayama City, where the brewery survived the 1945 air raids and still uses the original kura building for fermentation. The name evokes the feeling of clear May skies after new buds have opened, and the sake is described as having bright acidity, gentle sweetness, and a firm umami suited to those sunny, refreshing associations. The brewery uses Okayama-grown sake rice including the traditional Asahi variety, a historic strain long associated with the region's paddy culture.
