Houhai

Miura Shuzo in Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture, is a small family brewery that produces Houhai using its own proprietary rice variety developed in 1976 by the Aomori Agricultural Experiment Station, now exclusively cultivated by the brewery under contract. Groundwater from the Iwaki and Akakura mountain range, combined with careful small-batch brewing, defines the brand's character. Houhai is praised for a balance of umami and crisp finish, with fresh, transparent sweetness.
