Ozaki Shuzo, founded around 1644 in Ajigasawa on Aomori's west coast, named its flagship brand after the Ando clan naval force that controlled Tsugaru's trading port from the 12th to 15th centuries. As the only brewery on this stretch of coastline, it draws pure water from the Shirakami Mountains, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. The sake is known for a robust yet clean dry profile well suited to seafood.
