Takakiya is the flagship brand of Hamashima Shuzo, a fifth-generation family brewery established in 1889 in Bungo-Ono, Oita Prefecture. The brewery suspended operations for 17 years and relaunched in 1997 with an unwavering commitment to fully handmade, small-batch production and estate-grown rice across 13 hectares. Takakiya is crafted to complement food throughout a meal rather than stand alone, reflecting the brewery's philosophy of balance over spectacle.
