Momonosato (桃の里) is the central brand of Akaiwashuzou, drawing its name from Okayama Prefecture's identity as Japan's most celebrated peach-growing region, where the combination of warm Setouchi sunshine, moderate humidity, and fertile alluvial soil produces fruit of exceptional sweetness. The brewery in Akaiwa has long centered its production on the Asahi rice variety, an heirloom cultivar once nearly extinct that Okayama farmers brought back from the brink, prized for its plump grains and the round, full body it contributes to sake. This expression from the Momonosato line represents the brewery's approach to table-grade brewing: honest, regionally grounded, and built around the natural character of local ingredients.
