Yukisaku Karabashi, der aus einem Reisgroßhändler heraus ein Miso- und Sojasoßengeschäft betrieb, übernahm im Alter von 29 Jahren eine Sake-Brauerei. Am 5. September 1918 gründete er die Kano Sake Brewery zur Herstellung und zum Verkauf von alkoholischen Getränken. Um das Geschäft 1923 auszubauen, wurde der Hauptsitz umgebaut und das Unternehmen in Karahashi Sake Brewery umbenannt. Nach mehreren aufeinanderfolgenden Kapitalerhöhungen nahm das Unternehmen am 19. August 1946 den Namen Hometsu Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. an.
