From the brewery

The sake brewery of the sake "Egi" is located at the foot of Shiga Kogen in Kita Shinshu. The first Kosoji was founded in this area, and the name of Tamamura, the name of the name, is based on Joshu Tamamura (currently Tamamura -cho, Sami -gun, Gunma Prefecture), where the first generation trained in sake brewing. The clear water of the mountain purple water, the clear air, and the sake brewed in the cold temperature have been loved and raised by many people for over 210 years. 。

History

1805
Founded in 1805 (Bunka 2) by first-generation Kisouji in what is now Yamanouchi, Nagano.
1907
In 1907, the sake was purchased by the Imperial Household Ministry as a product for Emperor Meiji.
1925
In 1925, the brewery presented rice for the Niinamesai imperial harvest festival; Miyama Nishiki rice from that same paddy is still used in sake production today.
2003
Began growing Miyama Nishiki rice in-house starting in 2003.
2004
Began brewing 'Shiga Kogen Beer' and 'Yamabushi' in 2004.
2020
Significantly expanded cultivated area and began growing Kinmon Nishiki rice in 2020.
2021
Began growing Sankei Nishiki rice in 2021.
2023
By 2023, cultivated area reached about 4 hectares and Yamada Nishiki cultivation began; roughly 80% of rice used for junmai sake was now self-grown.
